getting it registered? How much does this cost? I purchased it from a pawn shop and the only thing they did was check my background. She gave me my reciepts but no paperwork saying the gun was registered. I want 2 make sure I'm carrying it around legally.

If you just purchased a gun from a dealer, you have completed all of the necessary paperwork. If you purchased from a private citizen, then there is no paperwork to file. Assuming it was from a shop, they know that you are not prohibited from owning a gun. Take it to the range and practice! Have fun! Exercise your second amendment rights! Edit: The NRA and other gun rights organizations have been spending good money to avoid having to register firearms. That's a very Brady bill idea. As of now, there is no "owner registration" required. If you want to carry it around, not in the field hunting, you will need a permit to carry.

To legally sell firearms, the pawn shop like a dealer would have to be licensed (FFL.) If the pawn shop did a background check, that means you provided the necessary information that was required to complete your background check and register the firearm.

You may need to get a license to carry. Contact your local city/county clerk. They may know which department you need to go to.
