You need to be 18 and have roughly 3k-5k depending on the model. It will also cost you a buck a shot and that is if you are using military surplus. Then on to being able to shoot it. You won't because MOST ranges won't allow that caliber out on their ranges and most people don't have the 800 acres WITH a berm in order to responsibly shoot it.

Whoa! Somebody's not messing around any more. Yes, this is legal in Georgia. If you're a felon then no, don't even think about it.

Where is a good place to raise a family and live in Georgia

Where is a good place to raise a family and live in Georgia?
We would love to live in a town/city that has a charming "small town" feel with gorgeous scenery (we love the mountains), but close enough to a big city for working purposes. Overall, we're looking for a great place to raise a family. We also love country.

helen? ellijay? no mountains but... milleggeville and eatonton are nice too.
2 :
Buckhead
3 :
Straight Up GHETTO Atlanta - ATL!!
4 :
My wife came from Macon area, Ft Valley, Warner Robbins, She says they are all nice for raising family, have small town charm but still good for work.
5 :
We are near Augusta and we love it! We are 2 hours from the mountains & Atlanta, 2 hours from historic Savannah and the ocean, and 1 hour from Charleston!
6 :
dalton
7 :
Well It Just Depends Fulton County Is Were I Use To Live And It Was Great but Its High Dollor But They Have Great School Systems, I Learned Spanish in Elementery, Temple Doesnt Have A Great School System But They Have Really Nice People And Theres Farms Everywere And Its 30 mins Away From Alabama And About An 1 hour From Atlanta The Great Big City!

Decatur is a small town that is almost swallowed by Atlanta. The CDC and a very good university are there. It fit your description perfectly when i lived there, but it may have changed a lot since then. for me, i would pick anyplace in Atlanta over any other place in Georgia. in fact, Atlanta is my favorite place i have ever lived. i'm sure there will be other suggestions.
9 :
U wont really find a good place like that in metro atlanta. its a big city.. Dalton and elijay are straight up country.. If you want to be near the city and not be so far from the mountains look into Cobb county or Cherokee county..
10 :
Carrolton Georgia is about a hour from Atlanta, if I remember correctly. I was assigned to Carrolton with the American Red Cross during a fund raising effort. I really liked the town and the people were very friendly.
11 :
athens. athens has a great feel too it, but is a college down so has the things you need. and it's close to atlanta kennesaw is also nice and small towny. tons of people swear by peachtree city. savannah, while touristy, is very lovely. say away from augusta some people like marieta, i'm not impressed. alphretta and roswell or okay, pretty suburban though. hapeville is growing. has a small town feel, but still gentrifying a bit, but you may like it.
12 :
I would say Gainesville,Ga. On the shores of Lake Lanier this town is a nice place to raise your kids because the school system is top notch it was acknowledged by George Bush on his state of the union!! The area is beautiful with the scenic view of the mountains and the lake shore its just a nice place to relax and raise the children in. Gainesville isn't all rural area its also a urban area with high class dinning and businesses in the area. Also if you are a spiritual person they have a variety of churches for a example they have free chapel, they have first baptist of Gainesville, they have Lakewood Baptist Church, and they have much more! So i hope you choose Gainesville to raise your children and i hope this helped you!
13 :
I would say Cobb county. except the area around the Fulton county border like Six Flags and Fulton industrial. One thing to note Georgia is a right to work state so it is Pro-Employer and Anti-Employee so remember that when moving here. If you get hurt on the job or just fired you are out of luck or at mercy of the employer. The state is controlled by republicans which love big business.
14 :
Dawsonville (I'm moving there next month) Blairsville (my favorite vacation spot) Ellijay, Hiawassee. All of those are in or close to the north Georgia mountains, I especially recommend the first two. Dawsonville is growing quickly, so you won't be far from most things you need.
15 :
I would have to say Newnan GA. i lived there 27 yrs and had to move because of my job and miss it so much. You are close to so much but also there are plenty of homes in the country!!!
16 :
Hmmmm...At one point I lived in [[south]] Forsyth County. It's gorgeous! The school's are also really great. The kids there are very proveleged. Also, Dahlonega is very nice. The beautiful North Georgia mountains, fresh air, and scenic views. It's great. Also, you could look into Rome.
17 :
I would say buckhead or Macon Georgia.. you get the scenery and the small town together
18 :
Dawsonville, Ellijay, Jasper, Dahlonega, all great mountain cities, about 30-45 minutes from downtwon Atlanta, all of them have that small town feel but close to everything you would need.
19 :
i would say alpharetta its not a bad lil surburban area to raise kids it has great schools and everything is close by you not to far from the city its like you are in the middle of everything
20 :
Dahlonega,Ga. is a friendly country mountain area and it is a beautiful little town.everyone there is friendly and ga.400 is there that takes you right into atlanta.>> good luck!!>>
21 :
Unfortunately you can't have both.... If you want to live in the small town area with mountain views, you aren't going to be close enough to work in the city, unless you want to commute every day 2 hours each way..... Although some good choices might be Kennesaw, Woodstock, Alpharetta and Cummings.
22 :
Woodstock
23 :
Loganville, Snellville, Lawrence ville dont mind the names but the homes are BRAND new a really good price, and very BIG AND BEAUTIFUL trustme.
24 :
Canton GA. 40 miles north of ATL. Established community, good schools, nice people.

I live in Georgia but I want to adopt a child in another state

I live in Georgia but I want to adopt a child in another state?
Do I need to be eligible to adopt in Georgia or in the state that I plan to adopt/foster in? Can I foster a child that lives in North Carolina and move them to Georgia?

1. If by foster, you mean become a formal foster parent for Child Protective Services, no, you cannot start fostering a child and then move the child to another state. Each state has it's own rules regarding foster children and one of those rules is that children generally have to stay in their home state unless it is a kinship foster placement. If by foster you mean caring for a child between the time you get him/her and the time the adoption becomes final, you can move the child so long as it is a private adoption. 2. If you're talking about a private adoption, i.e., not through Child Protective Services, the adoption would be filed in yor state of residence, which, I take it, is Georgia. If you're talking about a CPS adoption, see the answer #1. Unless it's a kinship adoption, a state agency will only let state residents adopt their children. Good luck & God bless.
2 :
Hi, You start by meeting the requirements of the state you live in, Fostering +/or adoption of the child will be handled under the ICPC (interstate Compact on the placement of Children). Here's a link that explains the ICPC: http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/cfsweb/PG1316.htm
3 :
Do you have a specific child in mind? If so, talk to that child's caseworker to see what would be required. Generally, you cannot foster a child from another state because the child needs to stay local to have birth parent visitation, meet court dates, etc. Once the child's goal changes to adoption, then the child's caseworker will begin looking for an adoptive family. They will start looking for families locally and will usually have many to choose from if the child is young and healthy. If the child is harder-to-place due to being older, being a member of a large sibling set, or having medical/emotional/behavioral issues, then they may not be able to find a family locally and will beginning looking for a family from other states. Oftentimes, these children are posted on websites like adoptuskids.org. Adopting a child from another state is a long and frustrating process. Once you are selected to be the child's family, the child still cannot come live with you until ICPC clearance is given by both your state and the child's home state. It can take anywhere from a month to up to a year to get ICPC clearance. During this time, you can visit with the child in their home state, but they cannot come to your state even just to visit. It is much, much easier to adopt a child from within your own state. Regardless of whether you wish to adopt from your state or another, the first step is to become foster and adoption certified in your home state. This involves getting a homestudy completed, taking foster parenting classes, getting a background check, getting CPR certified, etc. You can get certified either through your county's Department of Social Services or through a private foster family agency. If you are interested in adopting through another state, then you should get certified through a private foster family agency that handles out-of-state adoptions.

No you c an not Foster a child from another state---they have foster homes in that state and the priority according to state policy is keep that child within their own state boundaries.
