Check into your state/local USGA sections. Out here in CA there are free lessons for members covering a ton of different aspects of the game (IE, one day is wedges, another is putting, another might be irons and still others are for Driver, sand, etc.) VERY COOL

One of the first things that I would do would be to buy and read Harvey Penick's Books. The are very informative and you will learn something about golf, but more important you will learn golf courtesy. Lots of courses have clinics that are fairly inexpensive but you are in a class with several people, but you should get enough knowledge of the basics to practice and master to keep you busy for a lifetime.

Well I live in Moab, Utah but I know where you can get lessons. I would find a way to any local golf course. There you would be able to ask the pro for lessons. They are usually the cheapest and the easiest way to learn how to play golf. If not then any other course would work but it might cost more. A public course would be great!
