Can I live in Alabama and see a Georgia medicaid provider

Can I live in Alabama and see a Georgia medicaid provider?
I have an odd situation... my husband lost his insurance and I am pregnant. I am going to apply for medicaid and want to continue to see the doctor I have been seeing for my entire pregnancy, im six months. I live in Alabama but am seeing a doctor in Georgia. I live right on the border. Does anyone know if this is possible or will I be required to switch to an Alabama doctor?

You will have to switch doctors other states wont take another states medicaid unless your out of town on vacation and its a life or death situation..you will have to apply for medicaid in Alabama and switch to another doctor. Good luck with your baby. That has been my experience anyway

Call and ask the office personnel (at your doctor's office) if your doctor is in network with Alabama Medicaid. They should know this or be able to find out. I work in South Carolina for home health at a hospital and we are out of network with some other states' Medicaids, but I don't think we're out of network with all of them. It normally doesn't come up as an issue so I'm not too sure, but the doctor's office should know which insurances are in and which are out--especially if they are near the border anyway. Your social worker may also be able to answer this question and/or provide you with a list of in-network providers.

You are only covered in the state that provides ins., unless it's E.R. visit. I had medical assistance and I asked the same question but for another reason.
