Is it cheaper to live in Georgia than it is to live in the state of New York

Is it cheaper to live in Georgia than it is to live in the state of New York?
Hi! My husband & I are young and just starting our family. We would love to get out of New York and relocate to Georgia...Any advice or suggestions? Living in NY is so expensive and I don't know if we can survive here! Help!

it depends where in ny you live. but i'd bet that georgia is cheaper

for the most part yes but some parts of GA are quite expensive and there are some relatively cheap parts of NY

I've lived in both states. There are parts of New York that are cheaper, and there are parts of Georgia you'll find cheaper. But I think you need to consider your perspectives that include where he will work, what he will do, and the lifestyle and value system you possess. Some things cannot be compromised. Housing in the Atlanta area is outrageous if you're used to living upstate in New York. If you're used to living in the Westchester/NY Metropolitan area, you'll probably be relieved and find the cost quite reasonable. So do consider these things. Do your homework. Check the Atlanta newspaper classifieds online for where you are thinking of living, and compare it to the cost of living and housing where you're living now. Then you'll know the answer that's right for you
