The "cost of living" there is much higher than other states in the US and so is their state and local taxes. The hotel was the most expensive thing. There was an endless list of taxes added on. My room was suppose to be $89.00/night and after all the taxes it was about $130.00/night. For less than a week it cost me about $900.00 for the hotel alone! The only other time I saw such taxes added to a hotel was in Nashville, Tennessee; I was sticker shocked then too. Everything was more expensive, restaurants, alcohol, gas, endless taxes on the rental car, etc. It is beautiful there just expensive.
