From my understanding you will have to pay the taxes in the state of your residence no matter where you purchase the vehicle. If it is from a car dealer they will calculate the taxes for you. Generally, the tax will be due in full at the thime of registration.

No, I think it all depends on where you buy the car from...so if the car is in Fl. and you live in Fl., you have to pay Fl. state taxes...otherwise, no...

You always pay sales tax in the state where the purchase is made. Ad Velorum tax and tags get paid in GA. The person you buy the car from should charge sales tax and send it in. You usually pay it all at once, but you can work a deal with the seller to pay in incriments and the sales tax is due at the time of sale.

You'll pay the GA use tax in GA when you register the vehicle. It won't matter where you purchased the vehicle. Dealers don't collect sales taxes, the registration authorities -- DMV, RMV, County Tax Collector, whomever does it in your home state -- collect the tax when the vehicle is registered. When a dealer collects sales tax on a vehicle it's as a courtesy when they handle the registration and title paperwork for you. If you run your own paperwork, which you'll have to do on an out-of-state sale, you'll pay it when you register the vehicle.

When you buy the car in Florida, you will have to first pay Florida sales tax. When you register the car in Georgia, you will have to pay Georgia the use tax when you register your vehicle. Also, you should get a deduction of the Georgia tax that was paid from your Florida tax. If the Georgia tax is higher than the Florida tax, then you will not get a refund of the difference. However, if there is an agreement between Georgia and Florida regarding the collection of sales taxes, then you may only have to pay the Georgia sales taxes at the time of purchase. Also, the tax is due once you make the purchase or register the vehicle.

You pay tax only once. As out of state you SHOULD NOT pay Florida taxes. You will pay GA taxes when you register the car
